Running, Cookies, and Pictures

Image
I suppose some of you don't care about running and find running pictures of my son redundant. (hey look, here he is running through a field again - big whoop!) If you are one of those people, I apologize. Sort of. I, however, love running pictures - especially when they include my favorite son. My mom and I went to another one of David's meets on Monday.  We had a good time watching for him and cheering him on.  This meet, he was the first boy on his team.  He's slowly improving his times and ability and really catching the running bug. *sigh of parental pleasure*  Since I'm not running right now, I'm living my running life through him. Once I'm done being pregnant and have recovered from labor, I aim to get back in running shape.  I told David he had better keep running through the winter if he wants to continue to be in better shape than me, because I'll be coming for him a few months.  We're not at all competitive in this family. Final 50 meters.

My New Bed

Image
I have a new bed. Here it is: I've taken to sleeping on the couch lately as it seems to be the only place I can get a decent night's sleep.  I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with being able to rest my back against something and I can be somewhat more propped up here than in our bed.  The moment I get totally flat in our bed, I have nasty heartburn and then can't sleep.  Grr. So instead of tossing and turning in bed until 2AM every night as I had been doing, I decided that after snuggling with Aaron for a few moments and waiting the three minutes it takes for him to fall asleep, I'll just immediately head out to the couch and get some sleep.  This is how I typically spend the last two months of pregnancy.  It will be good to get back to my bed once this season is over! On other pregnancy news: I passed my one hour glucose test! Yea! This is the second one I had to take with this pregnancy.  The first one was very early on as they are always concern

Sick Day

Image
Abby had a fever yesterday and stayed home from school. She didn't feel good at all. Thankfully, she had a huge bear to lay on top of her and help her feel better The bear also makes a good snuggling and sleeping partner and pillow. Today, she is feeling a bit better, but still staying home to make sure the fever doesn't come back later on in the day. This morning, David came to me and said, "Dad commited one of the classic dishwashing blunders last night."  Just what is this "classic dishwashing blunder," you ask?  Leaving the dish water in a sink full of dishes. To his defense, he was happily washing dishes for me when he got interrupted by a phone call and forgot what he was doing before the phone call.  But the family knows that there is nothing I detest more than fishing my hand down to the bottom of a sink full of cold, dirty dishwater to let it drain out.  No, I exaggerate. I detest large spiders and centipedes more than cold, dirty di

29 Weeks and Never Shopping Again

Image
I finally have a picture of me that I didn't take myself!  Here I am with 2 1/2 months to go! Last week I got asked six different times, by six different people if I was having twins.  No, I'm not.  But thanks for kindly letting me know I look like a tank. I felt a little emotional last week about my size.  I'm not, nor will I ever be one of those tiny, cute, little pregnant women. I would think that since I'm taller than many women that I would be able to hide a little more of my pregnancy in my torso length.  But my babies like to pop straight out and show the world that they exist.  Working at a countertop or stove is getting a little more cumbersome. When I do dishes, my stomach is always getting wet as it sits closer to the water.  I've slightly burnt my tummy a few times too when it gets against the hot stove.  Abby is still in love with Fluffball, though she complained once that Fluffball hogs up a lot of the room in her bed.  But she makes a good

Mended Heart

Today was a good day for Abby. She had an early out from school today, so I took her to Sears for her school pictures. We are not doing school pictures at school since she is in the habit of this bizarre "smile" when a camera is in front of her.  Sorry this first one is blurry for some reason.  She just wouldn't smile right for anything with these pictures.  I was getting very frustrated.  This one is sideways and I don't feel like going back now and changing it.  Another not normal smile picture. Finally I got her thinking about her riotous bath that she had with Ana last night.  And finally, she started smiling normally.  Success!  Except her shirt was poofing out weirdly, but at least she looks happy. After pictures, we played at the mall play area for an hour.  She had her best friend Grace along with her today, so they had a grand time playing.  Then off to Costco to pick up a few things.  I had heard a rumor that the big bears were back.  I didn't say a wor

Saturday Morning Eccentricities

Image
What, your husband doesn't lounge around in his courderoy vest, tie, and pocket watch on Saturday morning preparing for his Sunday sermon? And your daughters don't inhale half of a watermelon in 15 minutes? And your son doesn't wander around the house randomly quacking and mooing? Yeah, my family doesn't do that either.

Heartbroken Little Girl

Image
I had to tell my little girl some sad news today.  Abby had seen a giant bear similar to this one when we were shopping at Costco awhile back for only $30 (the one pictured here cost $250 when I googled images of 53" bears) She really, and I mean REALLY wanted that bear.  I thought about it for a little while, but decided that if she was going to have something that huge in her room, then she would need to be the one to buy it.  So she went home, counted her money and began saving every little coin she could get.  As of this morning when she went to count her money, she finally had enough.  Today, I stopped at Costco with David to get a few things while the girls were at school.  We looked for the bears like we normally do when we go through, but alas, they were no more.  I had to come home and break the news to one very sad girl.  It made my heart sad for her as she cried.  Am I sad that I didn't just buy it for her in the first place when I saw her enormous excitement

Running and Pictures

David had his second cross country meet yesterday.  It was amazingly hot and very muggy out.  So much that they shortened all the races to keep kids from overheating.  The middle school race got shortened down to about 1.2 miles.  David did pretty well as he is used to training in the heat.  He would complain about going out for a run with Aaron on the really hot days of summer, but Aaron would always tell him that it would help make him tougher than other kids.  And it paid off.  He was the second boy on his team this race and had a decent time despite the heat.  Picture quality here isn't the best.  It was so sunny and bright out that I couldn't see my display to see if I actually had David in the picture.  Here are two that are okay. Abby got ahold of the camera after the race and took a bunch of random pictures.  This one of Aaron towering over her amuses me because I forget how everyone must look so tall to her when she's so little. And here is a 27 week picture of m
