It's Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Things here have been a little chaotic with busyness. I hope to get back into a normal schedule soon and post a little more frequently than I have. Hopefully by next week I'll have some more time! Until then, enjoy Keilah's most favorite thing to do these days...

I've had an on and off relationship with art over my lifetime. Of course when you are little, you create art without a care in the world and enjoy the process of creating all the wonderful things in your mind. However, over time that careless creativity came to a grinding halt as I put judgment on my work and compared it to those around me. I grew up in a family of extremely talented artists and, being the youngest in the family, I felt like I was never as good as them, so I stopped doing art and settled for being the "musical one".  In high school, I discovered the joy of colored pencils and my art world opened back up a little. I did a few drawings here and there for people I loved and enjoyed the process of bringing joy and delight through visual art. Meal Fail

Well, we had a truly horrible dinner tonight. My mom had given us some bratwurst that she and my dad didn't care for. Often times, my family will happily eat things they don't prefer, but not tonight. I can now see why she gave them away. They were quite horrid. Thanks a lot, Mom. David, the ever growing hungry boy, didn't seem to mind them too much and downed two of them fairly quickly. I did not finish mine. To go with our nasty brats, I tried out some cheddar rosemary muffins from our cookbook challenge. For the first time ever, we all agreed on how to rate it. A big fat one - the lowest rating possible. No one was able to eat a whole muffin. The rosemary taste was overpowering of everything else. It also seemed to call for too much baking soda as it had that baking soda taste in what wasn't flavored with rosemary. Blech. I hope the birds appreciate them more than we did! The Times are Changing

Don't you wish you could spend your days snoozing on top of a pillow?  Me too! Oh well, I would miss out on much of life if I slept as much as Joey.  So I will be content with my non-snoozy-pillowless-days. So I've been doing lots of thinking, praying, etc. the past while about my life and the way I live it.  For the past I don't know how long, but for too long, I've felt like I've just been hanging on by the seat of my pants as I try my best to survive each day.  Not getting done what I want to do with schooling stresses me out, having a messy house stresses me out, unfinished projects stresses me out, dealing with a bum foot stresses me out, feeling like I'm falling way short of the super high expectations I put on me stresses me out.  The past month has been rough and full of stresses I've put upon myself.  I don't want to live my life that way.  It's silly that I have a huge amount of grace for the people around me, but a zero tolerance level fo...
