Stuck, Races, Birthdays, and Dads

Summer vacation is lovely. We have lazy mornings. The kids do some chores around the house. I garden. We play ball games in the evening. There are days when we don't have anything to do. Just lovely all around! Below are some snippets from our week for you to enjoy. Keilah climbed up on top of this extremely high tub. She got scared when she realized just how high she was. She cried and got angry when I took her picture instead of helping her escape her dilemma.
Gotta love the irrational fears of toddlers. :)
Aaron and David ran a local half marathon together last weekend. They both did very well. David ran it in about 1:46ish, winning his age group (I'm sorry, both he and Aaron would be able to give you the precise time) and Aaron was only 90 seconds behind. They were both very proud of themselves as they should be. I was proud of them too! 6 days later, they ran a 5K race and considering how hard they've been training and running lately, they both did awesome again! David had his best time yet, winning his age group and almost breaking the 20 minute mark. Aaron wasn't too far behind and I think he won his age group too! Here they are on the day of their half marathon.
Just a pile of my favorite girls.
Keilah loves playing with games that get left out. Chess is a favorite and she can spend hours rearranging chess pieces to her liking. Chess and a cup of peas = win!
Candyland fun.
Ana's 11th birthday is today. She is at camp for the week, so we celebrated early this weekend. She wanted to decorate her own cake. This is Steve from Minecraft. I love it when the kids take over their own birthday cake decorating. It makes everyone happy!
Blowing out her candles during her "boy" party. She had two boys over. One of them has been her best friend since they were two. The other is a classmate with similar interests. So she had her "boy" party first. Then they left and she had her best girlfriend over to spend the night and continue the party through the weekend.
Keilah found the cake unattended and delighted in taking the candles out and rearranging them. She doesn't like cake all that much, so she didn't eat it.

Ana made these little fish bowl jello cups for party #2. They were great in theory. However, the gummy fish in the blue jello started to dissolve after sitting in the jello overnight. I'm told they had a very bad texture. I'm not a jello fan, so I didn't try them. The gummy penguins on the whipped cream was the only saving factor of the treat.
Father's Day was a fun-filled family day. At church, we started off with a "baby" dedication of Keilah. Our parents were both able to make it to the service. Then, afterwards, we all went to my parents house for Father's Day lunch, Ana's family birthday party, and to celebrate Keilah's dedication. Keilah is very anti-male (with the exception of Aaron and sometimes David), so when she happily allowed my dad to hold her and ended up taking a nap on him, it was picture worthy for sure! After that, she was a fan of Grandpa.
My mom was blessed with a golf cart to help her get around the area, so after lunch, I took my grandma out for a spin. We drove around the tiny town and looked at people's flowers and landscaping. It was a perfect after lunch activity that we both enjoyed before dropping her off at her house. Then we came home, packed Ana off to camp, played some slow pitch softball (Aaron got tackled as he was running to first base by a very large man - I didn't realize that softball was such a violent sport), came home and iced our softball playing injuries, and lazed around for the remainder of the evening. All in all, a very wonderful day!

What were some highlights of your week?
